How screening works
Recruiters rarely set software to reject CVs on keywords alone. Knockout questions do most of the filtering, such as the right to work or a required licence, and so does volume. A recruiter with hundreds of applications searches and skims, so two things count.
- The file has to be readable. Text in images, text boxes, headers and tables can come out scrambled or empty. Plain headings and a single column are the safest layout.
- The CV uses the advert's words. When the advert says "payment reconciliations" and your CV says "matched PSP reports", a search misses you. Use their words for the skills you have.

Is this an ATS resume checker?
Yes. It checks what an applicant tracking system needs to read a CV or resume: text it can extract, standard headings, readable dates, contact details in the body, and the skills from the job advert in the advert's words.
Does it work for a CV and a resume?
Yes. A CV in the UK and Europe and a resume in the US go through the same checks. Upload a PDF or Word file, or paste the text.
How is the CV score worked out?
The readiness score out of 100 combines four checks: readable by software (30%), skills from the advert (35%), requirements such as years, licences and right to work (15%), and bullets (20%).
Is my CV uploaded?
No. The checks run in your browser. Only a line you ask us to rewrite is sent, and your CV is stored only if you tick the box to share it with recruitment partners.
